Data rooms for agtech and foodtech startups.
Agtech and foodtech startups face both science and regulatory review. Investors ask for multi-season field trial data, approvals from EPA, USDA or FDA depending on the product, grower and distribution contracts, co-manufacturing agreements, food safety records and the cost to produce at scale.

How it works for a startup.
Agricultural products often need several seasons of field trials across locations before growers and partners trust them. Reviewers look at trial design, locations, controls and independent results, and at how performance varies with weather and soil.
Regulators depend on the product. Crop protection products, including many biologicals, are registered with EPA under FIFRA. Some biotech crops and animal products involve USDA. New food ingredients go through FDA rules, often a GRAS determination, and food facilities must register with FDA and follow FSMA requirements. Cell-cultivated meat and poultry are overseen jointly by FDA and USDA.
Supply chains decide margins: grower contracts, co-manufacturers, ingredient suppliers, cold chain and retail or food service distribution. Reviewers read those contracts and the cost per unit at each production scale.

Set up the room in 6 steps.
- 1
Present trials by season
Organise field data by season and location with the protocol for each.
- 2
Map regulatory status
One table of every product, the agency involved and the status of each approval.
- 3
Show production costs
Give cost per unit at current scale and at planned scale, with assumptions.
- 4
Collect food safety records
Include facility registrations, plans and third-party audit results.
- 5
Protect formulations
Keep formulations and strain data view-only with watermarks, or share summaries.
- 6
Explain seasonality
Show how revenue and cash follow growing or buying seasons.
Common mistakes.
- One season of trial data presented as proof.
- Marketing products before the required EPA registration.
- Unit costs based on pilot runs only.
- Co-manufacturer contracts with no quality or liability terms.
