Our editorial standards.

The rules our editors follow on every review, guide and calculator.

Facts first

Every price, feature and certification on the site comes from the vendor’s own pages or attestations, recorded in one facts file that feeds every page. Numbers in figures and tables are computed from that file, not typed by hand, so a correction reaches every page at once.

Plain language

We write for founders and finance leads who are busy. Short sentences, concrete numbers, no hype. When something is a planning estimate, we say so next to the number.

Independence

Scores come from published formulas. Commercial relationships are handled separately from editorial work; a partner cannot see a review before it is published, buy a placement or ask for a score to change. See how we earn money.

Guides on SAFEs, 83(b) elections, 409A valuations and similar topics explain how things usually work in the United States. They are not legal or tax advice. We link to primary sources such as the IRS or the SEC where a rule matters.

Corrections

If we get something wrong we fix it, update the date on the page and, for material errors, add a note. Send corrections through our contact form.

Updates

Rankings and prices are rechecked monthly. Guides carry their publication date and, when revised, an updated date.
